Children's Park

A well laid out park on a 6-acre stretch of land, adjacent to the lake, is established for children visiting Yelagiri. Play equipment are installed within the park. The Yelagiri Hills Development and Tourism Promotion Society runs the Boathouse at the park. Perhaps the most popular landmark of Yelagiri Hills is the lake. Ask anyone, and they'll tell you where it's located. For want of anything else to do, most visitors to the Hills tend to take the short walk from their lodgings and perhaps, go on a boat ride. The park adjoins the lake and is an ideal outing for kids to play around.


Telescopic Center

This is a must visit for science enthusiasts as well as general public. Vainu Bappu Observatory under the aegis of Indian Institute of Astrophysics Bangalore houses Asia's largest telescope. The telescope is 93 inches in diameter was built indigenously. At the observatory visitors are shown the functioning of the Vainu Bappu Telescope. There is also a visitor telescope through which night skies are shown if weather permits. Deers roam in the park in front of the observatory. You come across this when you're driving up the Hills.



Swami Malai

The highest point in Yelagiri is the Swamimalai Hills standing tall at 4,333 ft; . The view from the summit is spectacular. The hill provides a good number of trekking trails through thick forests. Swamimalai is a popular destination for trekkers. It's an easy trek along a muddy path starting from the eastern side of the lake, which is about 3 kms long and pretty scenic too. Most visitors to Yelagiri Hills, who have trekking in mind, often climb up Swamimalai.2




Yelagiri paragliding club, which is part of Yelagiri Adventure sports. Tamil Nadu Tourism and Yelagiri Adventure Sports Association (YASA) is organises an annual Paragliding Festival near Ramakrishna Mutt at Yelagiri. Participants include both national and international participants. A permanent paragliding training facility for the local residents is also being worked out. Next to Pune, Yelagiri Hills has the most conducive weather for paragliding. This is why it has been drawing participants from within the country and abroad.





Jalagamparai Falls

The River Attaaru, runs through the valleys of Yelagiri Hills, and at the village of Jadaiyanoor, flows over to form the waterfall. It's perhaps the only distant spot from the main town (over 30 kilometres) and fairly frequented by visitors to the Hills. Jalagamparai Waterfalls is also an ideal place to go on a day long trek and if you do decide to go there.



Adventure sports

People from all walks of life come to Yelagiri for adventure sports like trekking, mountain climbing, stream scrambling, river crossing, rapelling, mountain biking, etc. The mild climate coupled with the challenging terrain provides an adventurer's haven while the topographic location makes it easily accessible. Lord Murugan Temple

Drop by at the Murugan temple to offer prayers and invoke blessings from the deity. For whatever its worth, a trip or even a trek to the holy spot is bound to invigorate energy, health and peace of mind. It was constructed in the memory of Lord Murugan and is located on the tip of the mountains of Yelagiri. It is a best view point to have a look at the wonderful large plains lying beneath from the top of the mountain. The temple bells ringing on the top of the mountain helps keep life going and maintains the essence of culture live upright even these days.



Nilavoor Nararasimhan Temple

Stays in the womb of Vellore Fort, which by itself is a fine place to visit. It has the mythological back ground of history underneath and a great working story cultivating the trust of people even today. The place has great sculptures engraved from stone and which depict the live spirit of the god within. It is a great piece of craftsmanship and has several sculptures which are indeed a masterpiece.




This is an artificial lake, excavated in an area of 57 sq meters. The Yelagiri Hills Development and Tourism Promotion Society run the Boat Club, with facilities like pedaling and rowing boats. There is a newly laid horticultural garden with a pathway along the bund with a panoramic view of the lake on one side and the garden on the other. A connecting bridge leads the pathway around the lake. The pathway around the lake is particularly good for bird watching. There is also a small watch tower constructed next to a tree which can be climbed. Even though the water is not clear, the lake is pretty clean.



Musical Fountains

A type of animated fountain for entertainment purposes that creates an aesthetic design and sometimes a three-dimensional image. This is done by using the effects of timed sound waves and timed light or laser against water particles. The water refracts and reflects the light, and in doing so, a three-dimensional image can be created.
